A distinctly Tharu counterpart to the more widely known sister-for-brother observances found elsewhere in Nepal (such as Bhai Tika), reversing the more common direction of the ritual by having brothers fast on behalf of their sisters rather than the other way around.
How it’s celebrated
Brothers observe a day-long fast and perform prayers and rituals for their sisters' long life and prosperity, with family gatherings and a shared meal once the fast concludes.
