Devi–Bhairava Sacred Circuit
♡A two-day specialist yatra pairing goddess (Devi) and Bhairava shrines that are traditionally understood as linked within Newar sacred geography.
Best for: Advanced Shakta and Shaiva-tradition traveler comfortable with an evolving, scholarly itinerary
Destinations: Kathmandu Valley
Overview
In Newar Hindu tradition, protective goddess (Devi) and Bhairava shrines are often understood as paired or linked within a city's sacred geography, rather than belonging to entirely separate systems. This yatra follows a set of such paired sites, with a local specialist guide explaining the relationship between specific Devi and Bhairava shrines as it's understood in that particular local tradition.
As with our Ashtamatrika and Ashta Bhairava yatras, we're explicit that these pairings and their symbolism are the subject of specific local knowledge that varies between communities, and we present this as a specialist journey guided by local expertise rather than a fixed, universally agreed circuit. Verification of specific site pairings with local priests and knowledge-holders is ongoing.
