Overview

This journey visits a handful of Kathmandu Valley's working monasteries, including Kapan Monastery, a well-known Tibetan Buddhist monastery and teaching center on the valley's northern edge. Visits are planned around each monastery's own schedule and visitor policies rather than assuming open access, and monks and nuns are presented as religious practitioners going about their own routine, not as a sight to be viewed.

Where a monastery legitimately offers public teachings, meditation sessions or a visitor program, we confirm current details directly with the monastery before including them in your itinerary rather than assuming continuity from what may be outdated information. Photography is only ever attempted where explicitly permitted, and your guide will confirm this at each stop rather than assume a blanket rule.
