Shaiva Kathmandu
♡A two-day journey through Kathmandu Valley's Shiva-tradition temples, going beyond Pashupatinath to the valley's other significant Shaiva sites.
Best for: Traveler wanting to go deeper into Shaiva (Shiva) tradition specifically
Destinations: Kathmandu Valley
Overview
Pashupatinath is the valley's best-known Shiva site, but it's one of many — this journey adds lesser-visited Shaiva temples and shrines around the valley, giving a fuller picture of how Shiva worship is practiced across Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur rather than at a single location. It's built for guests who've already visited Pashupatinath, or who want Shaiva tradition specifically rather than a general Hindu-Kathmandu overview.
Each site is explained in terms of its own local significance and how it relates to the broader Shaiva tradition, with your guide noting where local devotional practice and textual tradition emphasize different things. Some of these are working neighborhood temples rather than major pilgrimage destinations, so the pace stays unhurried and respectful of ordinary daily worship taking place around you.
